Synopsis:
Venice's Teatro La Fenice welcomed the year 2006 with an homage to all three pillars of the traditional house: symphonic music, opera and dance. Kurt Masur, who conducted the orchestra and choir of La Fenice, chose works by the leading opera composers of the Italian repertoire: Giuseppe Verdi, Gaetano Donizetti and Giacomo Puccini. In addition - for his 250th birthday - works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, which the latter had created together with his Venetian librettist Lorenzo Da Ponte. Three singers from the international opera scene are the stars of the gala concert: the Italian Fiorenza Cedolins with a dramatic soprano, the young tenor Joseph Calleja from Malta and the successful Italian bass Robert Scandiuzzi.
