- Recuperating from a car accident that killed her husband, Shelby Naylor struggles with canes and crutches while trying to complete her magazine writing assignments and cope with her devastating loss. She finds distraction in her husband's old hobby: listening to broadcasts on a police scanner. At first all Shelby hears are police dispatches, but she soon realizes that the scanner also picks up conversations from neighborhood phones. Thrust into the middle of a violent crime, Shelby's passive eavesdropping makes her a key witness against a man she is eager to have put behind bars. But all is not what it seems...
