All seven episodes from the first season of the 1970's sitcom starring Hylda Baker as northern spinster Nellie Pickersill, who inherits a shabby London pub which she decides to run with her father Jed (John Barrett) - despite being a confirmed teetotaller.
1. Nellie Comes to Town The big city holds no fears for a no-nonsense Northerne, as Nellie Pickersgill travels from Bolton to Chelsea to take care of her father's public house, the Brown Cow.
2. Something in the Night A prowler is terrorising the district around the Brown Cow. When Nellie thinks she sees the mystery man, her attentions turn to window cleaner Charlie. But she's in for a shock.
3. The Anniversary Present Nellie needs every ounce of her Northern cunning to prevent Dad from being singed by an old flame; one that has already sent two husbands to the cemetery.
4. The Restless Spirit Gilbert comes over all queer when he's dealt a Dead Man's Hand at poker. A cultural trip to the country goes to pot when the regulars are more interested in the pubs en route.
5. The Apartment An argument with her Dad promts Nelly to find her own apartment. Searching around she fears that the seedy landlords is "trying to pull the wool over her thighs"...
6. Bring on the Dancing Girls The regulars desert the pub en masse when they discover that the Rose and Crown is putting on Go-Go dancers. How can Nellie compete? Her Dad suggests strippers...
7. The Wind of Change 'Pints and cheese rolls are out, wine and bistros in'. So decrees Nigel Smallpiece, a smart-alec executive from the Brown Cow's brewery. Nellie tries to comply.
