George Formby stars with real life wife Beryl in this 1935 comedy musical burlesque that captures George at the very beginning of his film career! George plays John Willie, a young, work-shy smart alec who has spent four glorious years on the dole because he can't get a job in his own trade - selling calendars during leap years! Now, however, the Dole Office have had enough - and kick him out into the street! Luckily, his mother fixes him up with a job at his uncle's detective agency. Armed with only his trusty Ukulele, John Willie is plunged into the murky world of missing fathers and unfaithful spouses. Soon his undercover work takes him to the most unlikely of places - including a lady's bedroom and a nudist colony! Happily for the criminals, detective John Willie hasn't got a clue...
