Watch Olympic decathlete, Dean Macey, attempt to catch a selection of Britain's finest freshwater fish and beat a few of his personal bests along the way.
Barbel It's off to the Royalty Fishery on the Hampshire Avon as Dean meets 'Mr Barbel' Ray Walton. Ray makes Dean ditch most of his kit and he's left with his pound and a quarter rod with ten pound main line. Ray's an advocate of the rolling and roving method of fishing for Barbel and, with his luncheon meat bait and plasticine weight, he has immediate success. But Dean changed tactics and went static line - with spectacular results!
Bream Phil Smith is Dean's expert Bream fisherman and once the rods are selected they find the best spot at Papercourt Lake to snare what they hope will be double figure Bream. Dean sends out a marker float then makes up Bream groundbait mixed with brown crumb, corn and pellets before catapulting out the balls to cover the area. But, with the sun coming down, would the night-loving Bream come out to play or would the Horseshoe Lake in Yateley come to their rescue?
