- Synopsis:
Without a doubt one of the most long-lasting and endearing of ITV sitcoms, 'On the Buses'' lasted for a tremendous seven series - from 1969 to 1973. Starring Reg Varney as jack-the-lad Stan Butler and Bob Grant as 'clippie' Jack Harper, their objective is to get through the day with the minimum of work and the maximum ogling of birds. Determined to thwart this cunning masterplan at every opportunity is the slow but devious Inspector Blake ("Blakey" to his enemies). Not only does Butler have to contend with Blakey but he also has to put up with living at home and 'enjoying' the company of his mum, sister Olive (dearie me) and her husband Arthur - a lazy skiver if ever there was one.
1. Family Flu
Stan's exhaustion when the rest of the family fall ill is rewarded when he packs them all off to Aunt Maud's...
2. The Used Combination
When Arthur acquires a second-hand motor-cycle combination, Stan's reputation as an ace mechanic is soon put to the test.
3. Self Defence
Stan and the busmen of the Luxton and District Traction Company take karate lessons. Fortunately for them, their inspector is an expert in the art.
4. Aunt Maud
Dogs are only allowed to travel on the top deck pf a bus, but when they are as big as Aunt Maud's 'pet', it is best that they should not travel at all...
5. Late Again
When Stan is courting, it leads him into trouble at work. Jack tries to help him out, but conductors don't always know when to stop...
6. Bon Voyage
When Stan loses his uniform outside the Cemetery Gates he has to use his holiday money to buy a new one...- Actors:
