- Despite his enduring status as one of Britain's bestloved entertainers, 'Our Miss Fred' represents a rare foray onto the big screen for Danny La Rue. Here he plays Shakespearean actor Fred Wimbush, called up for service during the Second World War. Sent to war-torn France, Wimbush is appearing in drag in a camp variety show when the Nazis arrive. His only hope for survival is to remain in costume and pass as a woman. In his efforts to escape, Wimbush falls in with a party of schoolgirls whose boisterous antics would put the St Trinian's to shame.
