Synopsis:
On November 13th 1990, in the idyllic town of Aramoana, quiet local David Gray took a high-powered automatic weapon and inexplicably shot dead 13 of his neighbours. It remains the worst mass murder in New Zealand's history. As emergency services scrambled desperately to reach the town, a handful of local policemen risked their lives trying to apprehend the gunman. Terrified residents were trapped in their homes for 22 hours, not knowing where David Gray was -- or if they were to become his next victim. Out Of The Blue is the gripping true story of the bravery and compassion of ordinary people in the most extraordinary of situations.

New Zealand Massacre - Out of the Blue review by CP Customer

Spoiler Alert
03/03/2009

I'm sure this incident will bring back memories of similar events in the UK. Thankfully these are few and far between, but do show the devastation a man can cause with a gun and no reservations. The film features a slow build up, setting the scene, as the individual struggles to maintain a grip on reality. Slowly his taste for gun magazines develops into something more evil. Even when the violence is raging, the film still has a calm eerie atmosphere. The helpless isolation of the victims is shown, as is the confusion that surrounds the unfolding events. Nothing is glorified and the horror of that day is captured vividly in this recreation.
