At first I didn't like Outcasts very much and I nearly gave up on it. However, as I watched more episodes I started warming to it and I actually wish that it had gone to a second season which might have allowed it to develop and improve further. A few criticisms out the way: the script and pacing can be quite plodding and laboured at times. The cast seem to have been given one acting direction: be as earnest as possible. Outcasts definitely has that slightly quirky, off-world sci-fi look, that is distinctive of the BBC: this is not a criticism though as it visually and atmospherically reminded me of late 70s to 80s Dr Who, which may be why I liked it. SFX shots are good. There's some interesting concepts in there and some good acting - just, as I said, a bit too much earnestness at times.
I'd recommend giving it a go and try sticking with it; you may come to like it too.
