- For former pro-rider and Tour de France winner Bjarne Riis there is only one dream: victory for Team CSC in the Tour de France. Overcoming tells this story. It is a unique behind-the-scenes look into Riis' methods - sometimes unorthodox, always individual - and the excruciating mental and physical pains of the Tour de France, told through the eyes of pro-cycling's greatest contemporary riders and their Manager. Overcoming charts their journey from training sessions to squad selection to time trials and eventually each gruelling leg of the tour in the tradition of The Stars and the Water Carriers and A Sunday in Hell.

Slightly Disappointing - Overcoming review by CP Customer
This had the potential to be quite an interesting film, unfortunately it is spoiled by the slightly frantic editing which leaves it looking more like an MTV commercial than a documentary.
There are some scenes which made me look at the sport in a different light, the mental fragility of the riders was fascinating to see, together with the constant cosseting & reassurance they require.
Riis' comments regarding doping are made more understandable viewed in this light, and while I don't approve of doping this film made me even less supportive of the idea of lifetime bans.
Overall, this film is a pleasant enough way to pass a rainy afternoon when you can't get out on your bike, but it isn't up to the standard of, for example, "A Sunday in Hell"
