A review of the 1988 Paris-Dakar motor rally. While Peugeot returned with Ari Vatanen and Juha Kankkunen, Jan de Rooy was favourite in the truck class, and Honda's Cyril Neveau was favourite in the bike class. Leading all the way from Paris through the wastes of North Africa and onwards to the shores of the Atlantic at Dakar some 7500 miles away, the race saw stars including Jacky Ickx,Jacques Laffite, Jean Pierre Jabouille, Jean Louis Schlesser, Ted Tolman and Gaston Rahier battle it out for the number one spot.
