A review of the 1989 Paris-Dakar motor rally. The 1989 rally was a tough and uncompromising event. Ari Vatanen had to overcome various mishaps in his attempt to win a second time. Together with Jacky Ickx and Guy Frequelin, the French team were the main threat to Mitsubishi and Nissan.
