- Synopsis:
- The story is set on a Greek island occupied by the Turks in 1908. Pascali (Ben Kingsley) is a spy for the failing Ottoman empire with a private love for an Austrian woman (Helen Mirren). When bogus British archaeologist Charles Dance arrives, he persuades Pascali to help him smuggle out an ancient bronze statue and begins an affair with Pascali's love.
