The 'Liverpool Oratorio' was Paul McCartney's first classical work. Largely based on the former Beatles' childhood in Liverpool, it was written in conjunction with conductor Carl Davis. This live recording was made at Liverpool Cathedral and features soloists Kiri Te Kanawa, Sally Burgess, Jerry Hadley and Willard White. The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir Choristers of Liverpool Cathedral were conducted by Carl Davis.
