Recruited whilst at Cambridge University in the 1930's, Kim Philby (Anthony Bate), Guy Burgess (Derek Jacobi) and Donald Maclean (Michael Culver) succeeded in leaking a large amount of highly-classified information to the Russians before being discovered in the 1950's in a scandal which rocked the British establishment to its core.
