When the inventor Geppetto creates a wooden marionette and names it Pinocchio, a benevolent fairy brings the toy to life. But on his numerous adventures, the puppet runs into quite a bit of trouble. Fortunately, the fairy comes to help by giving him a raven, an owl and a talking cricket to guide him through any misadventures. Pinocchio later finds himself on the Island of Toys, where he discovers that a whale has swallowed Geppetto. The puppet journeys into the ocean and selflessly risks his life to save his father, thereby displaying that he deserves to be a real boy.
