- After her husband is killed, Edna Spalding (Sally Field) is forced to take over the debt-ridden Texas family farm herself. With the help of fam hand Moze (Danny Glover) and Mr. Will (John Malkovich), a blind lodger that Edna hits taken in, she is able to overcome insurmountable odds, managing to bring in the cotton crop and to hold her farm and family togetlier. Learning the importance of solidarity in facing down disaster, 'Places in the Heart' leaves an indelible impression of faith, courage, love and, most of all, endurance.
