Port of Escape (1956) This was Googie Withers final British film before moving to Australia with husband and co-star John McCallum. It's their skilled performances and an atmospheric treatment of the London Docks setting that give this melodrama a considerable lift. McCallum is the Aussie adventurer who accidentally kills a man while helping his mentally ill American friend (played by Bill Kerr). They commandeer a boat owned by journalist Withers, whose initial hostility gives way to love for the Australian.
Date with Disaster (1957) Two of the three partners in a garage business plan to relieve the garage of $20,000 with the help of a professional criminal (William Hartnell). The plan is carried out while senior partner Miles (Tom Drake) is away, but things go wrong for the crooks.
