Synopsis:
Saverio Costanzo's bold, harrowing and multi-award-winning film tells the compelling true story of a forced occupation imposed by armed Israeli forces on a Palestinian family whose house is located on the makeshift battleground between an Israeli settlement and an Arab village. Following an intense gunfight, a small cadre of soldiers barricades itself inside a house belonging to Mohammed, an active pacifist, who wishes only the best for his family, his people and his nation. He refuses to let his family be ousted from their home, demanding their dignity be retained, even under the most extreme of circumstances.
As an uneasy alliance forms between those who accept Mohammed's stance and those who act against it, painful divisions of fighter and family begin to spill from the house, mingling with the conflict raging in the streets.

You don't need a degree in political science to know that this film is a metaphor for all that is happening to the Palestinian people. This is laid on a bit thickly but the film is saved by the wonderful nuanced performances by the actors playing the Palestinian family. They show the full range of emotional responses to their situation; acceptance, anger, hatred, fear and stoicism. The two youngest actors often steal the film.

The film is movingly shot, moments of calm followed by moments of awful tension.
