I rented this on impulse and was surprised at what a good film this is. It tells the story of Tom, a train driver coming to terms with the terminal illness of his wife who is suffering from bone cancer which has pushed their marriage to breaking point. After a woman commits suicide by parking her car in the path of a train Tom is driving, her twelve year old son named Davey tracks down the driver of the train and begins a fragile relationship with Tom and his wife which ultimately helps Davey come to terms with the loss of his mother and Tom with the imminent loss of his wife. This is a genuinely moving film with superb acting from Kevin Bacon and Marcia Gay Harden, and is cleverly told in a natural and not overly sentimental style. Well worth a rental.
