Synopsis:
R.E.M's seminal "early period" is a rich canon of work through which the band forged a unique image in the overblown '80s music market, and found the voice that would take them from indie darlings to international superstars. When The Light Is Mine chronicles R.E.M. between the years 1982-87, when they were rapidly becoming critical and college radio favorites but still remained on the periphery of the mainstream. This 2-hour compendium of clips - produced in collaboration with R.E.M. to celebrate their 25th anniversary - includes all of their original broadcast music videos, the 20-minute film Left Of Reckoning, appearances on the I.R.S. TV show The Cutting Edge, their memorable contribution to the film Athens, GA/Inside-Out, and live performances on UK TV shows The Tube and The Old Grey Whistle Test. Extras include over 30 minutes of unreleased interview footage with Bill Berry, Peter Buck, Mike Mills and Michael Stripe from 1983-87 and twenty minutes' worth of candid, outtake musical performances from the 1984 installment of The Cutting Edge. Trace the history that leads back to Athens. This is your document.
