Billionaire mogul Magnus Martel (Terrance Stamp) stands on the threshold of perhaps the most significant discovery in the history of all mankind: the secret of the Loculus. His cult of truth-seeking scientists globetrot the world in search of the enigmatic box, feted by theologians and historians through the ages and said to hold evidence of one of the greatest mysteries of all time. Flayed bodies, ravenous rotweilers, flaming corpses, severed tongues, torturous traitors, arcane myths and the legendarily savage Knights Templar - these are but some of the gruesome obstacles that fall in the perilous path of Martel's estranged son Jake (James D'Arcy) as he is lured into this sinister sequence of fateful events. On a quest for vengeance following his father's untimely death, he and alchemist Mira must search for and destroy the awesome power of the Loculus before it falls into the hands of the villainous Grand Master (Udo Kier), a demonic figure steeped in malevolent mystery - the deathly nemesis of all who have held the key to Loculus within their grasp. As the world unwittingly draws ever closer to the brink of a new and terrifying age, the stage is set for a showdown between the forces of 21st science and religion and an ancient evil that has cursed history.
