All six episodes of the 1991 sitcom set in Yorkshire. Despite coming from different ends of the political and social spectrum, Julia Merrygrove (Patricia Hodge) - an attractive, labour-voting divorcee with a position on the local council - develops an unlikely relationship with local biscuit factory owner George Rudge (Dennis Quilley). Unlike the kind-hearted Julia, George is a plain speaking, old-school chauvinist with no time for political correctness. However, both characters do share something: odd parents, in George's sex-mad father, and Julia's snooker-obsessed mother.
