Rick James: Super Freak Live 1982 (2011)

Live performance from the late funk, rock and R 'n' B musician Rick James. As famous for his outrageous off-stage capers as his work on it, James was nonetheless a popular and influential musician during his 1980s heyday. When he was signed to the famous Motown label in the late 1970s it was in decline, but James revived its fortunes with a number of hit singles, perhaps most famously 'Super Freak', later re-recorded by MC Hammer as 'U Can't Touch This'. This release, filmed for German TV, captures James in performance in support of the 1981 album, 'Street Songs', to which 'Super Freak' belonged.
