Robert Earl Keen - much like ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons and Clint Black grew up surrounded by the bayous and railroad tracks of beltway houston. Keen was born with a talent for "rhyming poetry" and his guitar became the instrument he needed to put that poetry to music. His love of poetry and language earned his a degree in English at Texas A&M while he was paying his dues in grubby little clubs. Like Bruce Springsteen and others before and after him, he turned porch songs into heartfelt nuggets that even Townes Van Zandt admired during Keen's first tour with the legend. Through the years he's forged a loyal fan bade the size of stadium rock bands (300,000 fans have attended Keen's Texas Uprising shows). Today Robert Earl Keen performs across the nation with the likes of Dave Mathews and others.
