Acclaimed U.S. pianist Ruth Slenczynska, who made her debut in Paris with a full orchestra at age 11, performs seven Rachmaninoff preludes in this televised concert from 1963, when the former child prodigy was 38 years old. Also, in a candid interview recorded in 2002, Slenczynska recounts her experiences studying with the great pianist Josef Hofmann, as well as her childhood studies at Curtis Music Conservatory in Philadelphia.
