Able seaman Albert Tufnell (Ronald Lewis) is all set to get married to his sweetheart Shirley Harnett (Shirley Eaton) - but just a few hours in the company of her battleaxe of a mother (Peggy Mount) gives him second thoughts! Loud, fiercely aggressive and totally domineering, she rules the Hornett household with a rod of iron and she wants to control Albert and Shirley's future too! Will the couple make it to the altar? The signs are not good. First batty Auntie Edie sees broken hearts in her tea leaves and then Albert makes a grisly discovery. Shirley's mum has secretly put a deposit down for them on a house just three doors away - just so she can make sure Albert behaves himself! Come the day of the wedding, there's no sign of Albert at the church. Has he decided to jump ship... and if he has, what's Shirley's mum going to do about it? - Actors:
