Waitress Sally Winch (Gracie Fields) believes her soldier boyfriend (Ian Hunter) has died in the trenches when his letters cease to arrive. He's actually only been injured, however, and has stopped writing as he doesn't want to burden Sally. But when he returns home, they are reunited again...
