- On a calm night in tropical seas, a troopship carrying sick and wounded from the Far East hits a magnetic mine, and the ensuing explosion forces the crew to abandon ship. Corporal 'Chicken' Dugan (Tab Hunter) and Nurse Elizabeth Smythe (Linda Darnell) survive, and manage to make their way to a deserted island. After months alone, a tender relationship builds - until becomes complicated by the arrival of a pilot who has survived a plane crash...
