- Saving Hope is a supernatural medical thriller/mystery drama series from Canada, following Doctor Alex Reid (Erica Durance) and her soon-to-be-husband, Doctor Charles Harris (played by Michael Shanks), who is in a coma after surviving a severe car accident. The show centers on the lives of Alex Reid, her care about patients and hope that her fiancé will eventually wake up and Charles Harris with his liminal experiences in a world that closely resembles a state of ‘afterlife’ transcendence.
