I remember seeing the original 'Saw' on 2004 and being blown away by how good it was. The original was thrilling, gory and with a clever storyline packed full of twists, sadly none of the sequels have come anywhere close to the benchmark set by the first movie and each sequel has progressively got worse. Of all the sequels this is one of the better efforts and on a par with 'Saw 3'. Worth renting if your a fan of the Saw franchise, otherwise give it a miss.
Gore for the sake of it! It you want to watch people dying and flesh being hewn from the human body this if the movie for you. You could just stand outside your local butchers though.
Plot is flimsy and thinly drawn on the original saw idea.
The gruesom torture devises are a pleanty.
In my opinion no good.
By far, Saw 7 - The Final Chapter is the worst of the sequels. It's only a bit better than SPIRAL (Chris Rock's fan-made spin-off). It ends up chasing its tail creating polt holes galore in its wake. What promised to sew up the original run of films forever just left us with more impossible questions to answer. The return of key played Dr Gordon (Cary Elwes) is a waste of time and doesn't add any intrigue and there's no reason for Hoffman's endless psychotic bloodbath. Vol.7 killed the franchise of with bad acting, no new ideas and a thin plot. Jigsaw was better (purer) and Saw X was something of a return to form after the low points of 5, 6, and 7 (maybe 8) and SPIRAL....
Saw bore
