Kitt Devereux (Melanie Griffith) is a successful defence attorney in Los Angeles, who has made her name with a string of high-profile criminal cases. After a much-debated not guilty verdict for an accused rapist, the consequences of which, continue to haunt her, Devereux has turned to the safer practice of defending alleged white-collar criminals. That is until she is persuaded to represent a young Latino rap singer Bobby Medina (Wade Dominguez), who is accused of brutally murdering the daughter of a billionaire philanthropist. Opposing her is her former lover, Assistant District Attorney Jack Campioni (Tom Berenger), who will do anything to win the case and climb the political ladder, despite his relationship with Kitt. It soon becomes clear that in order to discover the truth behind the crime, Kitt must risk not only her career, but also her life. Sex, murder and politics can be a deadly mix.
