This story happened during the Ching Dynasty, in a place in southern China, which was ceded by the Manchu government to the Japanese. A governor was sent from Japan to rule the place. However, behaviour ub cagiits with rich merchants greatly exploited the society and affected the living of ordinary people. Shao Lin was a famous Buddhist Temple in this place. The master in charge of it was Chih Yuan, who came from the Pu Tien Shao Lin Temple in Fukein, and was known for his studies in Buddhist Zen and practise of Shao Lin Kung Fu.
