These two unrelated documentaries offer a unique insight into the more bizarre elements of Japanese life. Gaea girls is the most successful, showing the regime required by women who wish to become professional wrestlers, which gives the film its title. At times it is quite brutal, forcing trainees to the very brink to see if they possess ‘the right stuff’ and many fall by the wayside. Shinjuku Boys is perhaps showing its age now and offers a much shorter expose of females who work in particular clubs. The DVD represents an interesting double bill.
