Goemon lives! Using his arsenal of trickery and with help from legendary fellow ninja Hattori Hanzo (Saburô Date), he escapes a gruesome death sentence and returns for revenge on the man who jailed him, Oda's successor Toyotomi Hideyoshi (Eijirô Tôno). As he carries out a new assassination plot, Goemon (Raizô Ichikawa) becomes aware that his mission is being used by Toyotomi's rival Tokugawa leyasu (Masao Mishima) in a bid to become shogun - and that Hattori Hanzo is not all he claims to be. Co-starring Ayako Wakao (Elegant Beast) as a sultry court lady who engages Goemon in a battle of wits, this third entry in the series is directed by samurai movie specialist Kazuo Mori (Zatoichi, Sleepy Eyes of Death), who delivers a dark revenge movie that amps up the ninja action.
