Mission well and truly accomplished. Victory in the penultimate game away at Cheltenham secured the Shrews a return to League One at the first attempt. Exactly twelve months on from that feeling of utter despair following defeat to Peterborough and relegation, the promotion party was in full swing. It had been a summer of change on and off the pitch. New boss, Micky Mellon, completely revamped the squad, recruiting the likes of James Collins, Liam Lawrence and Mickey Demetriou to spearhead the huge challenge to bounce straight back. And once the thrill of the Capital One Cup run was complete, including welcoming the eventually champions Chelsea to the Greenhous Meadow, it was actually the home defeat of Cheltenham that kick-started the league campaign. Town reeled off six successive wins which saw them enter the automatic promotion spots, a place they would leave briefly only once from then on in. By late April the job was done.
