In 2012 Sigur Ros gave a wide selection of film makers the same modest budget and asked them to create whatever came into their heads when they listened to songs from the band's album Valtari. The results were unveiled every two weeks on www.sigur-ros.co.uk under the banner Mystery Film Experiment. There was also a competition for the public to make their own ideas a reality, which attracted more than 800 entries. By turns beautiful, moving and thought provoking; graphic, absurd and funny; no-one could have predicted the strange and beguiling mix of visual delights that would result from this simple idea.
