Silence Between Two Thoughts (2003)

Crisis-of-faith drama written and directed by Iranian filmmaker Babak Payami. An executioner carries out the orders of his leader to kill three people, but just as he is about to kill the third, his leader stops him. He has decided that because the girl is a virgin, she will ascend to paradise if executed now. He orders the executioner to marry the girl and take her virginity to ensure she goes to hell where she belongs. The executioner locks the girl up in his home, but, besieged by doubts, cannot bring himself to touch her.
