Synopsis:
"Since Yesterday" paints a raw and empowering picture for women in a music industry endemic with misogyny, but leaves one crucial issue crying out for a conversation. There's something to be said for seeing people who look like you picking up instruments and playing, says Carla J. Easton, writer and narrator of the film, and for her it was girls making music together. While female-fronted bands and female solo artists are celebrated in Scottish music, there seems to be a lack of girl bands, which means that if you can't find them, they can't inspire you. So Easton, a celebrated solo artist and founder of Teencanteen, sets off on a mission to map the story of the Scottish girl bands missing from bedroom walls. Her objective is to rewrite the narrative to include them, create a safe space for girls 'to dream big' and normalise women making music together.
