Synopsis:
Emily (Lisa Ambalavanar), a technology obsessed sorority senior trapped in the world of social currency and popularity, discovers the influence she can gain from cute animals after meeting an exotic pet distributor. Emily's deep desire to become sorority house President leads to her adopting a poached pet sloth in order to use it to help her get elected new house President. But when bodies slowly begin to pile up in the Lambda Omega Omega house, Emily and her sisters are slow to realize the deaths are being caused by their new house mascot, Alpha.
It isn't until the girls lock themselves in the house to celebrate the presidential election night that the truth is discovered about their sluggish pet - that this lackluster furball is actually nature's perfect predator...fueled by revenge, protected by adorableness, and armed with three razor-like claws on each hand. Will Emily and her sisters escape the house with their lives? Or is this death-sloth too quick for them?

Tongue in cheek killer cuddly daftness - Slotherhouse review by LW

Spoiler Alert
21/11/2024

This is a slice of lunatic satire and sorority slasher that has a feel like one of the better Troma classics. The joke that sloths are just pretending to be slow and adorable is suitably bonkers and it starts from there. Even by the standards of the genre the sorority girls are unspeakable caricatures heading for fluffy annihilation. The satire element being that the pursuit of social media fame drives the girls to get an illegal sloth and that, in turn, the sloth learns to emulate them, eventually getting an online following with #killersloth as it posts its kills. The moral being that social media can turn even a cuddly jungle creature into a monster. The sloth is an adorable puppet, the action slapstick daftness and it breezes by at a nice pace. Highly entertaining as a gore comedy.
