The Holy Land, 1187. When dedicated warrior-monk of the Knights Templar, Rene, is captured in battle, he escapes into the desert. He is saved from starvation by Hasan, a mysterious Muslim traveler. The two take refuge in an isolated oasis, the home of Sohelia, where the wounded Hasan is nursed to health. As he waits for Hasan’s injuries to heal, Rene finds himself tempted by the simple pleasures of life free of ravages of war. His growing attraction for Sohelia, together with the news of atrocities committed by the Christian and Muslim armies lead him to question his vows of chastity and his commitment to the crusaders ethos.
