Solo Sunny (1980)

Sunny (Renate Krößner), an aspiring young singer coming of age in 1970s East Berlin, struggles to find the right man, let other men down easy and gain recognition not only as a musician but as a human being in this German drama. The film takes viewers behind the Berlin Wall for an unflinching portrait of what life must have been like for a generation of restless, disaffected youth who felt restrained both by their age and their government.
