When it comes to mass start road racing, the Southern 100 always delivers epic action that's tough to beat and the 2024 event was no different. With a number of factors limiting the event's practice and qualifying sessions, it was tough to predict who was going to come out on top during the packed schedule of racing. The returning event champion Davey Todd was of course one of the favourites as was previous winner Michael Dunlop but, like always, there were plenty of others ready to cause an upset at the 'Friendly Races'. It would however be Dunlop who would go on to dominate the event winning three races with a masterclass display of road racing. Wigan's Rob Hodson also showed off his talent taking two wins at the event whilst Davey Todd and Mike Browne would each claim one a piece. Todd's sole victory however came in the gripping 9-lap Championship Race putting him amongst the prestigious group of riders who have retained the championship title. As always with the Southern 100, not all the action came from the solos. Ben Birchall returned to the Billown Circuit with his usual tenacity, once again dominating both races but this time with Kevin Rousseau as his passenger. The duo fought off some tough competition from the up-and-coming Crowe brothers and previous winners Founds and Walmsley to take victory in both Sidecar Races. The Official 2024 Southern 100 Review features all the best action from this thrilling event including some awesome on-bike footage of Matt Stevenson riding Team RC Express Kawasaki ZX10RR.
