In commemoration of the invention of the steam locomotive by Richard Trevithick in 1804, West Sussex Record Office in conjunction with the South East Film and Video Archive have produced this compilation of Southern Steam. Film footage includes: Hove Station 1897 on the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway; Pulborough to Petersfield in the 1930s and 1950s; Selsey Tramway c.1930; 'The Great Marquess' in Chichester, 1967; Rails in the Isle of Wight in the early 1960s; Brighton Kemp Town & Preston Park Signal Boxes in the 1960s; The Hayling Island Branch, 1963; Last Days of Steam at Waterloo Station c.1966.
