On 18th July 1936, the military garrisons of 17 cities rose in rebellion against the communist government of Spain. The spark that ignited the Spanish Civil War was the confrontation in the Spanish Moroccan city of Melilla, between a unit of the Spanish Foreign Legion and a communist-led mob.
