Based on the true story of murderer Richard Speck (Doug Cole) who, in July 1966, killed eight nursing students on one unbearably hot night in a Chicago suburb. With his already intense anger heightened by excessive quantities of drugs, Speck entered a boarding house and systematically terrorised the students before brutally murdering them. However, he had not counted on the courage of one woman, Corazon Amurao (Beverly Sotelo), a Filipino immigrant willing to risk everything to survive the ordeal and begin her new life in America. The film also follows Speck through his conviction, imprisonment and up to his subsequent death.
