Over 70 million people play tennis worldwide and about 20,000 talented young athletes are striving to become tennis professionals. Statistics determine that only about 400 of them will make it onto the professional circuit. This fascinating documentary affords the viewer an insight into the world of professional tennis at opposite ends of the spectrum and tells the story of the extremely demanding and difficult journey to the top. We follow 21-year-old Juho Paukku, fighting stomach problems in India and sandstorms in Egypt in the 'backyards' of the tennis world, as he tries to break into the ATP circuit, and also experience the upper end of the professional circuit through the trials and tribulations of Jarkko Nieminen, another Finn who has already earned nearly 4 million dollars on the circuit and who reached the ATP ranking of 13 in 2006. "Star or Comet" also takes viewers behind the scenes in search of the ingredients necessary for a tennis star like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal or Novak Diokovic to make it to the top and is a must watch for all sports fans.
