The steam railways South of the River Thames and East of Southampton have left us as their legacy one of the richest veins of preserved steam in Great Britain today. The railways of the area have, unlike their Northern cousins, always had the carriage of passengers as their top priority and the diversity of locomotives and the routes covered is immense. This video filmed over the last decade, captures this variety, from heavy express locomotives to small shunting engines including many notable visitors to the area. On private lines and those of what was the Southern Railway, from Hampshire through Surrey, Middlesex, Sussex and Kent - join us as we revel in all of the magic of Steam in Britain in the South East.
