Steam has been known as a source of power for over 2,000 years, but it was the mighty locomotive that truly harnessed steam for transportation. This 'Steam Locos' video features, amongst others, some of the finest GWR and Southern Railway, preserved steam locomotives from the pre and post nationalisation period of British railways. Featured locos include the Bluebell Railway's Stroudley A1 Terrier, examples of both Bulleid's unrebuilt and rebuilt Battle of Britain Class light Pacifics in the form of the Swanage Railway's Manston and the Bluebell Railway's Sir Archibald Sinclair, the magnificent Modified Hall Class Foremarke Hall, now resident at the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway, Didcot Railway Centre's most precious gem, the 1917 Churchward's Mogul and the Bluebell Railway's early Edwardian 0-6-0 Wainwright Goods C Class in South Eastern and Chatham Railway livery.
