Synopsis:
"Stig of the Dump" is a delightful tale of a shy young boy's friendship with a caveman. This BAFTA winning BBC series is adapted from the popular children's classic written by Clive King. Barney and his sister Lou are spending the summer holidays at their grandparents. One day, Barney falls foul of the Snarget brothers, the infamous village bullies, who chase him until he falls over the precipitous edge of a quarry. Tumbling through a grassy roof, he finds himself in the home of a prehistoric man. Later Barney discovers in his encyclopaedia that the hairy caveman is a stiganopithecus, so he names his new friend Stig. And of course, he can't wait to get back to the cave and find out.
all he can about this stranger and the lost world he comes from. Soon Barney and Stig are inseparable. Together they fight the Snargets and have wonderful adventures: hunting for food, modernising the cave and rescuing Lou's heart-throb Nathan from a watery death. But time is running out for Stig: the quarry has been declared dangerous and is shortly due for redevelopment. He would like to get back to his own time and people, if only they could find a way. Meanwhile, Barney's grandparents are becoming increasingly worried about him. He keeps talking about Stig, and they aren't sure whether Stig is an imaginary friend or a real person.
